Part 1: Making Simple Text in PSP

Part 2 Adding Simple Text to a Finished Animation in AS

Part 3 . Adding Animation to Animation(Animated Text, Blings)

Part 1

This is often a thought provoking thing to do. Putting text on to an animation already completed. All you wanted to do was add your name without it wobbling about all over the place. There is more than one way but I find the best tool for this is using the Propagate Paste Tool in Animation Shop to add my required text which I make first in PSP7.

First of all we need an animation to practice on. If you do not have one I have put one here to use.

Right Click the animation and save to your pc in your Documents or to your Desktop

 White Tulips Sparkes

Lets Start.

Open up your PSP 7.

Open the animation up in your PSP to start with. All you will get is a single layer. (Right Click it, Copy and paste as a new image. Close the original that you first opened. (You now have a working copy for reference.)

First check you colour settings. This image has a lot of Black and White so you may not have a full pallette.

Got to Colour, scroll down, increase colour depth and then go to the highest setting16 million

Photobucket

Now go up to the top Click on Image and then resize, The resize box opens, just make sure the actual size button is checked. This will give you the size of the image 350x350. Jot this down on a piece of paper. Then click cancel on the resize box.

Photobucket

Now to open a New Image : Go to File, New, put in your sizes:- width 350 x height 150 pixels, transparent background , then click ok. We choose these sizes as it is the width of the animation and we only want to add a name. 150 is plenty tall enough for this.

Photobucket

.

Now we need put the text in the new image. Nearly all of you can do this but for those who are new to PSP the instructions are a little more detailed.

Go to your text editor and click it to select and put your curser on the new blank image square to insert your name. In the text box select your font, choose an outline colour and a fill that will suit the picture. You will need a size to suit and this should be 36 or 48. If you choose a really small font 72 can be used.

Check floating in the text box.  Have your curser in the centre of the image for placement. Click ok. The text will have ants around it and by putting your curser on it you can adjust its position if required.(You can if you wish  put the text on the Working Copy  just to see how it looks first.) Go to Selections, and Select None. Now go to File, Save, Give it a name and save it to your documents or desktop. (Somewhere you will find it).  Just save it as a psp tub. As we used floating this image should be just one layer.  If you made your text another way just make sure it is only one layer when saved. You can check by going to layers , merge visible. Close the Working Copy. You will not need this again so no need to save.

Photobucket

Next Step is over to Animation Shop.

End of Part One.

 Next see Part 2

Part Two.

Open up your Animation Shop.

Have your arrow tool selected.

Go to file, browse and look for the Animation and the Name Text Image you have just made and open them both. Left Click on the animation, go to Edit, Select All,  right click on it then Copy and Paste. Put you Arrow Tool to the side of the animation and you get a double arrow appear to pull out the animation to see more than one frame.

Right click on your Name Image ,Select Copy and Paste as a new image. Close the originals you opened.

Photobucket

Have them next to each other on the working area.  Make sure it is Frame 1 showing on the animation and there is only one frame on the name image.

Put you Arrow tool onto the Animation and click, go to Edit, scroll down to Select All and click. The frames will all be outlined in blue. Now go up to the top bar and click the Propagate Paste.

Photobucket

Now go to your Name image and put the arrow there, press down on the left mouse button and hold until a little square appears. You may get the egg timer to be hold until the little square is there...

Photobucket

Now drag the square over to your animation and place it onto frame one. DO NOT release your mouse button. Keep it down. Drag the text to the position you want it and then release. After releasing the text will be in placed in each frame. Photobucket

Click on the run animation button to check.

Now you can save as usual.

That is all there is to it.

Photobucket

If it had not worked something was forgotten. It will be either the Select All, or The Propagate Paste button

was not clicked or you do not place in Frame 1. ou can go to the animation and the text image in turn and click the back buttons and start over.

End of Part Two

I have extended this tutorial as all that you have learnt can be so easily put to use to add animated text and blings.

so next.....

see Part 3.

 Part 3.

(You should have worked through the Tutorial for adding Text to An Animation Parts 1 and 2 first)

Photobucket

You can put an animated text  or a bling onto an animation  in the same way as long as

1. They both have the same number of frames.

2. Both Animations have been outlined in blue with Edit, Select All

3.You drag from Frame 1  into Frame 1.

4. Propagate Paste has been Clicked.

Note. If you have one animation with three frames and another with 6 frames :

Go to animation with three, Edit, Select all, Right Click,

Copy - then Left click on frame 3 to select only this frame,  then paste after current  using button on top bar.You now have 6 frames.

Photobucket

With practice you can soon learn how to add an extra couple of frames somewhere to lengthen an animation without a break in continuity. Just Always remember to make a work copy and save your original.
