Tutorial created 27th November 2007  ©BuzyS.

Written for PSP 7

Using Fonts - Making a Flower Part One.

Remember to save your work at intervals as you go. Save in Documents (or Somewhere you will find it easily) and give it a name you remember ...

eg. FlowerOne.

For this tutorial I have used the Font BeautySchoolDropoutII which you can download free from UrbanFonts Here

Other Fancy Fonts can be substituted.

if the font is downloaded to documents open the font and then reduce  it to stay on your toolbar. It will then appear in your drop down menu in PSP7

Open PSP - New Image 350 x 350 Transparent Background

Go to Layer Pallette and add a new Raster layer. This is layer 2 and we start by working on this layer.

Select colours for foreground and background. I have selected lilac and pink

Select Text tool, select the chosen text (BeautySchoolDroupout11) set size to 72, bold and Floating. Type a Capital Q. on the image.

Go to Image on the top toolbar, Rotate 90 deg., Right,  click ok. Go to Selections and Select None.

Go to Effects on the top toolbar, Geometric Effects, Perspective Horizontal, Difference 100, click ok.

Go to Effects, Geometric Effects, Perspective Horizontal, Difference 75 this time, click ok

(different fonts may need slight change here. you need one end to narrow for a petal shape)

Using Fonts - Making a Flower PartTwo

We have made our Single layer flower and it is time to add a second layer.

Right Click on the centre of your Flower Image which we will refer to as Flower One, Copy, Paste as a new image. This we will call New Flower Image.

Working on the New Flower Image (just click on it to make sure of this) Go to Colours on the top bar, Adjust, down to Hue,Saturation,Lightness and set to Edit Master, Saturation 20, Hue 0,Lightness 0, Click ok. This has slightly darkened your New Flower Image. (You can darken a bit more if you wish)

RightClick the centre of the NewFlowerImage and Copy.

Now move over to FlowerOne, RightClick on it and Paste as New Layer.

Go to Image, Rotate, 12, Click on the Deform Tool and make the new layer smaller with the corner nodes to show new set of petals on top. Keep it central. Go to Layers, Merge Visible. You now have a Double Flower.

Now to add the centre. Go back to the New Flower Image, Click it to make sure, go to Image, Resize to 50, Right Click in the centre of the tile, copy and then move to Flower One, Right Click the centre and Paste. Move it to the centre. Go to Layers, Merge Visible.  The Flower is now Complete. This is now ready to save as a PSP Image. or PNG(PortableNetworkGraphics) to keep the trasparent background.

You can at this point open the Image, copy the frame into Animation Shop and save the single picture as a gif. It is a smaller file but loses some clarity.

Changing the Colours to Shades.

Re Open the Flower in PSP Right Click the centre and paste as a New Image. Close the Original Flower.

Go to Colours, and Click Greyscale.

Go to Colours, Scroll down to Increase Colour Depth, and click16 million.

Go to Colours, Adjust, across  to RedBlueGreen.

Set to Red 0 Green 0 Blue25. Click ok.

The image is now all lilac shades. You can play a bit here with the settings and see what pleases you.

...END...
